Dexter brings a straight forward approach to problem solving based on 40 years in public service/safety. He has worked at all levels of emergency medicine including incident command, mass casualty incidents and disaster response development. As a former long time supervisor in Idaho’s busiest paramedical service, he has attained the ability to function and problem solve under the most stressful settings. During his undergraduate studies, he developed a passion for teaching which he developed into a well respected training facility.
Dexter received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the College of Idaho where he majored in history and sociology during his undergraduate studies and then specialized in counseling, consulting and organizational development during graduate school.
He has the ability to identify the various layers of conflict, dissect the causation and quickly implement the necessary change to reach the goals needed to succeed in an agency or business. Dexter understands the conflicts between the employee and the management that deter successful projects.
Over the last 38 years, Dexter has excelled in his career, as a leader, as a supervisor and as an owner of two successful businesses. He is well regarded on the national level having lectured/taught both nationally and internationally. He has published over 80 refereed articles, and a textbook chapter.
His work experience provided an opportunity to develop exceptional skills in the areas of group facilitation, individual change, and organizational dynamics. It also enabled him to develop and test creative new approaches to organizational reform regarding such areas as analysis, team process, change, and implementation. He has taught world-wide from organizations like the Mayo Clinic to a small, Inupiat village 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle.
Dexter provides nonjudgmental insight for the most efficient and optimal goal outcomes within the boundaries of the organization. He does this with an inquisitive and positively supportive manner which seeks to take the higher road, rather than a street fight in the mud. The end result is change that occurs in a positive and productive manner which benefits the organization.
